Adrenal Fatigue - How to Treat Adrenal Fatigue

Learning how to treat your adrenal fatigue is as easy as making sure that you take regular breaks throughout the day, e.g.; 10am and then anytime from 3-5pm.

To treat adrenal fatigue makes sure that you don't skip breakfast or any other meal during the day. When you're hungry, your blood sugar drops, causing stress to your adrenal glands and these trigger your sympathetic nervous system, creating dizziness, cravings, anxiety and of course fatigue.

Missing the important first meal of the day breakfast will only result in weight gain, but if you stick to grazing healthfully every two to four hours, your blood sugar will remain steady throughout the day, giving you more energy.

Eat protein with every meal as well as complex carbohydrates such as; brown Rice, eliminating processed sugar, junk food, pasta, white Rice and white bread.

Avoid caffeine, energy drinks & high sugar drinks, as these will over stimulate your adrenals, depleting your body's vitamin B.

Learn to relax, by either exercising, yoga, deep breathing or some form of meditation. Make sure you don't do any vigorous exercising as this only depletes the adrenals.

Avoid Alcohol, smoking and processed foods. The nicotine in the tobacco causes the cortisol levels to rise and overuse may result in low DHEA, testosterone and progesterone levels.

Reduce stress; learn techniques that will help you better cope with stressful situations, such as deep breathing causing muscle relaxation and/or visualization.

In addition, those suffering from adrenal fatigue can also include nutritional supplementation into their diet as this may add additional benefits to the adrenal fatigue symptoms.

There are also great herbal remedies that can add as an alternative therapy in treating adrenal fatigue, and these can include liquorice, ashwagandha, maca, Siberian ginseng and Korean ginseng. With those deciding to consume liquorice, to only eat a small quantity at a time, as it can increase blood pressure. If you are also suffering from hypertension or renal failure then you shouldn't consume liquorice.

Always make sure to check with your doctor before deciding on any of these herbal remedies.

Getting Down to the Good Stuff

Crab is a tasty treat no matter what part of the globe you hail from, but residents of the United States and Canada have a special place in their hearts for the mighty Alaskan king crab. The long legs and delicious white meat found within makes this crab a top pick when crab is to be the featured item on the menu. You can rarely disappoint when presenting a feast of tasty, luscious crab legs. The next important decision after choosing the crab is learning how to cook king crab legs.

When buying king crab legs, be sure to get your hands on frozen ones that have not thawed yet. The legs are often pre-cooked since they cook them on the boat right after the crabs are caught and then flash freeze the legs in order to retain the succulent flavor and freshness. In order to thaw the frozen legs, place them in the refrigerator and allow them to thaw for about eight hours. The legs can stay in the refrigerator for up to two days after thawing without going bad but it is ideal to eat them right away. Once the legs are thawed you must choose how to cook king crab legs.

If steaming is the desired route then you must fill a steamer or pot with two cups of water, add one tablespoon of salt and bring the water to a boil. Place the legs into the steaming basket and start timing when the water returns to a boil. They should steam for about five to seven minutes. When you can start to smell them and they are warm to the touch then they are done. Remove the legs from the water and serve with melted butter and sliced lemon wedges.

Another great method to try when learning how to cook king crab legs is baking them. After preheating the oven to 350°F, crack the crab legs and arrange them on a baking tray. Lightly brush the legs with melted butter or oil, adding additional seasoning and lemon juice to taste. Place them in the oven and allow them to bake for around eight to nine minutes. Take them out of the oven and serve with anything from Rice to grilled vegetables. Whatever method of cooking you choose, selecting Alaskan king crab legs was the right start.

Food Diaries to Help With Weight Loss

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you are fighting the weigh loss battle, then keeping a food diary is a good way to help dieters loose weight. A recent study, published in The American Journal of Preventive Medicine, states that the subjects who kept a daily food journal and meet weekly with others who had the same goal. The outcome, the participants lost, on the average, 13 pounds over six months. The study also found that the more diligent a dieter was at journal ling the more likely they were to be successful.

After the study was conducted, these suggestions were made...

- Write as you go. Don't wait until the end of the day to record what you ate and drank. "We recommend they write it down as soon as they can after they eat," says Stevens.
- Focus on portion size. Practice at home with measuring cups, measuring spoons, or food scales. And be aware that people tend to underestimate how much food they're served.
- Use whatever type of food diary works for you. It doesn't matter whether you use scrap paper, a personal digital assistant (PDA), or a notebook. What matters is that you use it, says Stevens.
- Don't skip your indulgent days. "We encourage people to keep records especially on days when they're tempted to eat," says Stevens. "What gets measured tends to get changed."
- Cook at home. You'll have more control over what you consume, and you know what that food contains, and how much of it you're eating. That makes for a more detailed entry in your food diary.

I had to wonder about this. Yes, I can see that there is added accountability from keeping the journal. You have to tell the truth here no eating a cookie and not admitting it! Also, it's easy to forget what you've eaten, so if you journal all day you can look back and reflect. I do wonder, in the world of fitness and good health, how many people could keep this up long term.

I do blog daily, but I've never really thought about writing down everything I eat after I eat it. I tried to do it but it seemed unnatural. The one thing I do practice daily is menu planning.

I'm one of those reluctant grocery shoppers. Don't get me wrong, I love to shop! I just can't enjoy shopping for hours a month for food. Instead I plan a weekly menu that includes all three meals and snacks. I post this menu on the 'fridge for all to see. If pizza is on the menu for dinner, the boys know not to eat the pepperoni on a sandwich for lunch. For fun snacks, like Rice krispie treats, or cookies or such, they sit out on the counter so anyone knows these are open game if wanted.

How do the two compare? I don't write after the fact, but I do write before. I think of it as being proactive; I know everything I'll eat before I do it and I'll have plans for snacks sitting out if I need something. This keeps me from getting hungry and binging, but it allows me to set fitness goals and keep them.

I also like that the study participants had to meet with others. There are reasons why Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig are so popular. People love meeting and working with others. You bond with people who have a common goal, you enjoy the friendships you've made, you encourage others when they need it and you have a person to be accountable too. Group fitness is a wonderful way to keep motivated if you are new to life long fitness.

So, try writing down your food and drinks for a week, and find a friend to walk with or talk too who might have similar goals. See how it makes you feel, and see if it works for you.

Most importantly make sure you have a fit day!

Fried Sweet Potatoes - An Awesome Autumn Treat

I'm finding all kinds of new ways to use the ten pounds of sweet potatoes my mom brought during her last visit. They are too good to go to waste!

When my husband and I vacationed in Palm Springs, California last year, we stopped by a little hole-in-the-wall cafe somewhere near Hemet on our way to Idylwild to shop and watch the sunset over the valley. We were hungry and this little restaurant was the only place we had come to during the hour we had been on the road. We stopped not knowing what we might find. On the menu, they featured fried sweet potatoes. Neither of us had ever had them prepared that way, so we decided to give them a try. They were delicious and they soon became a favorite once we were home and the harvest came in.

I'd like to share the simple recipe I used. It may not be the same as the one in that quaint little California town, but I'm sure you will find them delightful.

Prepare the sweet potatoes by scraping the skins from them. I use a standard potato peeler. Slice them about an eight of an inch thick. Heat the oil, I use coconut oil for the health benefits. Unlike olive oil (also a healthy oil), coconut oil doesn't lose its health properties at higher temperatures needed to fry vegetables. Once the oil is heated, drop in a layer of sliced sweet potatoes and cook until tender. I like them a little crisp so I let them start to brown. Take them up with a slotted spoon and place on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the extra oil.

Now you have a choice of how to spice them. I usually create two plates so I can season them differently,or you can use one seasoning tonight and the other next week for a variety. One: sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Two: sprinkle with salt and cinnamon. I know it doesn't sound like these two seasonings would work well together, but trust me, they do!

Give this recipe a try. I'm sure you and your family will enjoy it no matter which seasoning option you choose.

Some Great Free Homemade Dog Food Recipes

Homemade Dog Food Recipes

There are many reasons for feeding your dog homemade dog food. One of these is how commercially prepared pet foods came into creation and are still made today. Commercially prepared dog foods did not even exist until the 1930s, when the meat and grain companies wanted to find something to do with their rejected products. These included products that were moldy, contaminated or even rancid. Then and now, pet food companies and veterinarians have a large stake in the pet food industry. There are high quality pet food products, however, it can be cheaper and much more beneficial to make your own "pet kibble".

Making Your Own Dog Food And How to Make Dog Treats

*It is recommended for people that prepare homemade dog food recipes that the ingredients consist of 1/3 protein (chicken breast, ground beef, egg, cottage cheese, and tofu) 2/3 whole grains (long grain white or brown Rice, white or sweet potatoes, pastas, oats, barley, couscous and tapioca). With all of these ingredients cooked properly.

Another reason is due to canine diabetes. The fillers in prepared dog foods can cause your dogs sugar levels to sky-rocket. It is also not a good idea to free-feed your diabetic dog. Their portions need to be kept to 2 to 3 smaller meals throughout the day. The smaller meals help stabilize the blood sugars. Here is a recipe that is recommended by a vet nutritionist along with one human multivitamin a day.

1 cup cooked brown long grain Rice

1 cup cooked chicken breast

1/2 cup green beans

1/2 cup mixed vegetables

1/2 cup cottage cheese

Mix together and serve. Quite simple.

*This recipe is based on feeding a 60 pound dog and should be adjusted to your dogs weight and eating habits.

Diabetic Dog Food Treat Recipe

1/2 cup wheat flour

2 eggs

1 and 1/2 pounds beef liver, cut into pieces

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 celsius). Line a 10 x 15 in. jellyroll pan with parchment paper.

2) Place the liver into a food processor. Pulse until finely chopped. If there is room add the flour and eggs and process until smooth. Otherwise transfer into a bowl and stir in the flour and eggs until smooth. Spread evenly in the prepared pan.

3) Bake for 15 minutes in preheated oven, or until center is firm. Cool, then cut into squares. The treats will have a spongy consistency. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

Homemade dog food recipes can be very beneficial for dogs with food allergies. It is very important to find out if it is a meat allergy so you can eliminate the offending meat. These recipes will include meat, but you can interchange the meat for any of the proteins mentioned previously.

Chicken Recipe

1 pound chicken chopped or ground

1 cup basmati (or hull free) Rice

2 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup cooked cauliflower (or whatever vegetable your pooch enjoys)

1 teaspoon bone meal (provides calcium and can be purchased from many online suppliers)

Pet tab based on pet size (provides daily nutrition requirement also available online)

1/2 cup cream of wheat

Cook all (grinding the meal and pet tab together) then mix together in large bowl. Store in separate containers for daily feeding. This is also freezable for later use. Will store in fridge for up to three days.

Top 7 Tips To Treat And Prevent Diarrhea

It may seem that diarrhea is a bad thing. But try to appreciate the episode for what it is: an overly protective measure by your body to get rid of something it sees as a threat to you. In simple terms, your digestive system identifies a problem - a food ingredient it can't digest or is allergic to, a spice or flavoring that irritates it, an invading bacterium bent on real harm - and moves to expel the offending pest. Fortunately, most diarrheal episodes don't persist indefinitely. Most cases of diarrhea are self-limited and resolve within 7 to 14 days. Diarrhea can be very harmful to you. But, here are a few suggestions that can help you to minimize its effects.

1. Stick With The Bottle

Many natural waterways can contain intestinal parasites that cause diarrhea. Carry bottled water with you and sip from that instead. If you are camping overnight and can't take along enough water, visit a camping-goods store to find out about water purifiers and water-purifying tablets.

2. Know Your Body Condition

Certain underlying medical conditions make some individuals more prone to diarrhea throughout their lives. If you have, for instance, food allergies, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, or ulcers, you simply have to watch your diet more closely than other people do.

3. Keep It Plain

What you eat during a bout of diarrhea is just as important as what you drink. This is not the time to eat any new and unusual foods that you have wanted to try. It is recommended to have a bland carbohydrate diet with foods such as Rice, bread, or mashed potatoes.

4. Avoid Antacids

Avoid antacids such as Maalox or Mylanta to treat diarrhea. People often mistake bloating and gas with diarrhea symptoms. So they take antacids. Unfortunately, these compounds contain magnesium, which can cause bowel movements.

5. Restore The Balance

You have heard that you should drink more water when you have diarrhea, but you might be better off drinking a sports beverage instead. During a diarrhea attack, you rapidly lose important body fluids and minerals called electrolytes. Electrolytes are all things that your body needs to function properly. It is recommended to have sports drinks such as Gatorade. If that is not handy, help yourself to some fruit juice or flavored drinks to help restore the balance.

6. Try Powder

Carob powder is a good natural remedy for diarrhea which is available at health food stores. It is recommended to mix one tablespoon of powder with applesauce and honey to make it palatable. Use this remedy no more than three times a day for no more than three days, until the symptoms subside.

7. Mix It Up

A simple way to remember what you have to eat : Try the BRAT - bananas, Rice, applesauce, and toast - diet. You may also amend the formula to include a second T, which stands for tea.

Firepit Cooking Options

A firepit can be a magical place for many reasons. As children, it can be one of the first places we are actually allowed to cook with fire. We learn to roast hot dogs, make s'mores and other tasty treats. We see the older kids accidentally get the marshmallow too close to the fire and create a fiery meteor that we think is utterly amazing and have to try for our self. Most of us learned to cook with a stick but there are other great methods for cooking as well.

To be fair the stick method is a tried and true method for cooking anything over an open flame. It is typically used with marshmallows and hot dogs. Both children and adults can easily accomplish the task which is great for family activities.

For larger gatherings or when you might want to cook a larger variety of foods you can try placing a grate above the fire pit. Some fire pits have these built in or if you have a naturalistic fire pit you can purchase a tray that elevates the grate above the flames. This is ideal for foods such as hamburgers or chicken breasts.

If you want to get really fancy and try rotisserie or even a pig there are skewers that can be placed over the flame. This is similar to the tray with the exception that there is a skewer. Some models feature a hand crank or even come with a small motor to automate the task.

When it comes to cooking food over a fire pit there are several different methods for helping you heat up your tasty treats. The option that works best depends on the type of food and how involved you want to be in the process.

Why Is My Dog Vomiting? Top Reasons Why a Dog Throws Up

Most dogs throw up more than once in their life, and in many cases, the vomiting is over as quickly as it starts. Vomiting usually results from inflammation or infection of the stomach and upper small intestine.

Dogs that eat very quickly often vomit their food back up soon after they have finished their meal, even though they are in perfect health. The food isn't digested at all, and they will often eat it again straight away. Gross, I know, but they don't seem to mind.

If your dog makes a habit of this, you may want to feed him two smaller meals a day rather than one big meal. Some dogs eat fast because they are concerned that the other dogs in the household will take their food. If you have more than dog, keep them apart at mealtimes to avoid this feeling of competition.

Vomiting often occurs if your dog eats something they shouldn't have. This could be food that is rotten, or maybe a rock or part of a chewed toy that irritates the lining of their stomach and intestine as it passes through. Sometimes these things can get stuck in the intestine, and that's when the problems begin.

If this occurs, your dog's vomiting will get worse, he will go off his food and his abdomen will be very sore. Anything he does eat or drink will come straight back up. This can quickly become life threatening, and your dog will need surgery to remove the obstruction.

Pups may vomit if they have a heavy burden of roundworms in their small intestine, as they can interfere with the passage of food.

Often the first sign of a viral infection such as parvovirus is vomiting and loss of appetite. If your dog is unvaccinated and starts to vomit and show signs of depression, contact your vet quickly.

Vomiting isn't always a sign of serious illness. If your dog throws up once or twice but is otherwise well, it may not be anything serious and you can watch and wait for about 12 hours. Don't feed him for 24 hours, then start with small frequent meals of a bland food such as chicken and boiled white Rice.

However if your dog has a sudden onset of repeated vomiting which doesn't resolve with the above treatment, if he is depressed or if there is blood in the vomit, it's time to call your vet.

Vomiting more than once or twice a week over a longer period of time can lead to nutrient deficiencies and a lack of energy. This type of vomiting is more likely to be associated with conditions such as food allergies, or inflammatory bowel disease. Chronic vomiting can also be a feature of liver and kidney failure, and is often accompanied by other symptoms such as drinking a lot of water, and passing lots of urine.

Our dogs are like family to us and so naturally it's very upsetting when they become sick. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you knew how to give your dog a check-up, so you could spot a problem early? Before it became truly serious or even life threatening?

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound May Help Treat Prostate Cancer

There are multiple treatment options for prostate cancer, which means patients may choose from multiple treatment possibilities. Unfortunately all of them takes time, especially if hormone therapy is prescribed.

For prostate cancer sufferers high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) might be a new hope.

HIFU cuts nothing and to all intents and purposes it's not really a vibration, not unless you count radio waves, radar light waves, etc as "vibrations" which they are of course, but not in the context that you are concerning yourself about.

HIFU is ultrasound ( like they use for imaging pregnant women), but with the volume turned up and the waves focused right down to the size of a small grain of Rice. Perhaps many of you remember what we did as kids with a magnifying lens and paper/wood ants.

These waves pass through your body like the magnified waves of sunlight doing no harm at all, until the reach the focal point, where the short burst blasts the cells at that focal point into eternity.

The heat generated at that focal point boils all the cells in that Rice grain sized area within seconds, then it lets that cool down, and moves on to the next focal point, no pain, no discomfort.

HIFU has been used for years in China, Russia, England, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and so on. It is not used just for prostate cancer, it's also used to treat with a high degree of success liver cancers, with ongoing trials of other soft tissue cancers.

How to Treat a Cat Allergy

When examining a cat allergy regarding vision you should look to see if the surface of the eye is clear and not cloudy.

Also you have to see if the pupil constricts by shining light on it and if there is any sign of cloudy eyes then the chances are your pet may be developing cataracts.

Liver disease can be detected by looking at the whites of the eye surrounding the pupil and if this is more yellow than white then your feline as liver problems.

An ear infection can be detected if your little tiger keeps shaking their heads which is not usual.

The outside of their ears which is called the pinna should be light pink and fairly flat.

How to Treat Fatigue and Stress

The adrenal glands are triangular shaped organs that rest on the top of each kidney. Each gland comprises of two parts - the cortex or outer section which is responsible for the production of cortisone, and the medulla or central section.

Fatigued and stressed? Your adrenals may need support.

The adrenal glands are triangular shaped organs that rest on the top of each kidney. Each gland comprises of two parts - the cortex or outer section which is responsible for the production of cortisone, and the medulla or central section, which secretes adrenaline.

The adrenal cortex helps to maintain salt and water balance in the body. It is also involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates and the regulation of blood sugar. The adrenal cortex produces a sex hormone similar to that secreted by the testes as well. The medulla of the adrenal gland produces the hormone epinephrine, also called adrenaline, when the body is under stress. This hormone speeds up the rate of metabolism in order to help cope with stressful situations.

The functioning ability of the adrenal glands is most often impaired due to excessive use of cortisone therapy for disorders such as arthritis and asthma. Long term use of cortisone drugs causes the adrenal gland to shrink in size. Adrenal cortical failure is also caused by pituitary disease and tuberculosis.

When the adrenal cortex is under active, a rare disorder called Addison's may develop. Discolouration and darkening of the skin is common in people suffering from this disease; discolouration of the knees, elbows, scars, skin folds and creases in the palms are more noticeable when these body parts are exposed to the sun. The mouth, the vagina and freckles will appear darker. This disease is also characterised by bands of pigment running the length of the nail and darkened hair. Other symptoms include a decreased amount of body hair, such as under the arms, fatigue, a loss of appetite, dizziness or fainting, an inability to cope with stress, nausea and moodiness. The individual may also constantly complain about being cold. Addison's disease is a life long condition. In order for the adrenal glands to work at their highest functioning ability, a sufferer of this disorder must pay strict attention to their diet.

Nutritional supplements are recommended.

Whereas Addison's disease results from an under active adrenal cortex, Cushing's syndrome is a rare disorder caused by an overactive adrenal cortex. Those with this disease generally are heavy in the abdomen, face and buttocks, but have very thin limbs. Muscular weakness and wasting of muscles are also characteristic of this syndrome. Round red marks mimicking acne may appear on the face and the eyelids may appear swollen. Increased growth of body hair is common and women may grow moustaches and beards. A "Cushinoid" appearance is frequently presented with prolonged cortisone use. People with Cushing's generally are more susceptible to illness and have trouble healing properly. Thinning of the skin from Cushing's syndrome often leads to stretch marks and bruising. In order to keep the adrenal glands functioning properly, stress must be avoided. Continuous and prolonged stress from troubled marriages, bad job conditions, illness or feeling's of low esteem or loneliness can be detrimental to the adrenal glands.

Stress will impair adrenal function

Because the adrenals must work harder under stressful situations, continuous stress will impair their functioning ability. Poor nutritional habits, smoking and alcohol and drug abuse can also contribute to adrenal failure.

Here is a simple adrenal gland function test. If you suspect you have reduced adrenal function please consult your health care professional.

Reduced adrenal function may be indicated by the following: Weakness, lethargy, dizziness, headaches, memory problems, food cravings, allergies and blood sugar disorders. The normal systolic blood pressure (The higher of the reading - 120/80) is approximately 10mm higher when you re standing than when you are lying down. To test adrenal function, take and compare two blood pressure readings - one while lying down and one wile standing. Rest for 5 minutes in the recumbent position (lying down) before taking the reading. Stand UP and immediately take the blood pressure again. If the blood pressure is lower after standing, suspect reduced adrenal gland function. The degree to which the blood pressure drops while standing is often proportionate to the degree of the hypoadrenalism.

Dietary recommendations

Eat less
Avoid alcohol, caffeine and tobacco, as these substances are highly toxic to the adrenal and other glands. Stay away from fats, fried foods, ham, pork, highly processed foods, red meats, soft drinks, sugar and white flour. These foods put unnecessary stress on the adrenals.

Eat more
Consume plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables - particularly green, leafy ones. Brown Rice, legumes, olive and safflower oils, nuts, seeds, wheat germ and whole grains are healthy additions to the diet. Eat deep water fish such as salmon and tuna - at least 3 times a week.

Supplements

Eczema Home Treatment - Treat Eczema at Home

Eczema is a general term used for all the different types of inflammations of the skin. Infants are the most common targets of eczema and the disease is called as infantile eczema. Eczema though can affect anyone. Usually it is resolved in half of all the affected infants till they become three years old. There are various treatments that could be administered in such a situation. We will learn about eczema home treatment that will help us cure the disease.

Prevent dry skin at all times. For this you must ensure that you take warm, showers while bathing. After a hot water bath, the skin releases histamines which cause rashes on the skin. So best would be to avoid hot water baths. Apply a proper moisturizer on your skin. Avoid scratching and tight fitting, rough or scratchy clothing.

There are some over the counter drugs available for eczema home treatment.

1. Apply hydrocortisone which is a non prescription cream along with an anti itching lotion like calamine or menthol/camphor.

2. Diphenhydramine also called as Benadryl can also be taken for itching. Please remember that this pill is bound to make you sleepy.

3. The other simple treatment is to clean the area with a hypoallergenic soap every day. After the cleaning you should apply lubricating cream or lotion.

4. Emollients are moisturizers which soothe, smooth and hydrate the skin. As we know now, they are the best eczema home treatment and should be used every day even if you do not have eczema symptoms. Examples include aqueous cream and E45 cream. These emollients can be applied directly to your skin as lotions, creams or ointments. Applying them just after a bath, while your skin is still slightly moist is the best time to apply moisturizers. Oils or washes which can be used in a shower or added to a bath are also available.

5. Mild steroid creams, such as Dermacort or Lanacort can calm flare-ups of eczema by suppressing your body's inflammatory response. You should ask the pharmacist's advice or see your GP before using any steroid cream. The stronger steroids are only available on prescription. You should continue to use emollients at the same time as steroid creams.

Also try and avoid physical as well as mental stress. Eating right, light activity and adequate sleep will help you stay healthy, which can help prevent flares. Also after using this eczema home treatment remedies please do not expect a quick response. Eczema is easier to control than cure.

How to Buy a Rice Cooker

If you are used to having Rice cooked in your home several times a month, your family treats Rice as more of a staple diet rather than an occasional meal. If your family loves the tasty and nutritious Rice so much, why don't you consider buying a Rice cooker and take your rice experience to the next level?

The thing about rice is, you rarely get the same rice twice, personally speaking, when I go look the markets for rice, I am faced by completely new types and kinds of rices, all different that what I faced on my previous attempt. That may not seem like much of a problem, but when I cook them, sometimes they break away, and sometimes they just dissolve too much, giving away starch.

If you are a good cooker, then I am sure that you can cook rice manually and eat good quality rice. Unfortunately not all of us can cook well. On the other hand, if you had an electric rice cooker, it would not matter if you were a good cooker or not. A rice cooker would cook the rice for you and would always give you a tasty meal.

Cooking rice in the traditional way can take up to 30 mins. Rice cookers take only a couple of minutes before the rice becomes ready to eat. Also, this is a energy-saving appliance that you can use anytime.

You can use a rice cooker for other things than cooking rice. Since it has a basket steamer, you can also steam small foods like vegetables, or steam you baby s bottles as well other things that you want to keep sanitary. Remember that technology and money are directly related, so the more thing you want in your cooker, the more you will end up paying.

There are different sizes for rice cookers. If you live alone or with one more person, then a 3 cup model would be great for you. For a family with 4 to 6 people, a 5 cup model is the best choice. There are also bigger/larger rice cookers (10 cup model, 30 cup model) if you need to cook for more people. You can use it to cook for a big family or for a restaurant.

Contact Management - Top 10 Secrets to Increase Contact Rate and Sales

Increasing your contact rate and sales conversion should not be a mystery. It takes discipline and diligence. Is your contact management system designed to maximize sales performance? If you are operating off a spreadsheet or flipping through contacts in a desktop address book--you are static. These are not contact strategies--they are contact miracles.

Here are 10 contact management strategies that will get you more sales:

1. Centralize Your Contacts: Stop the madness with sticky notes, address books, rolodex, business cards, and Outlook. Find one place for sales leads and get them all in there. This is about to become your most valuable asset as a sales professional--so, I suggest you have a sturdy, backed-up, easy to maintain contact database-based system.

2. Script Your Process, Not Your Conversation: Sales scripts kill more sales than they bring. However, knowing exactly how you want to target and the process you want to take a lead through to become a happy customer is valuable. Map the process, and the potential deviations, of your ideal sales process. This mapping process will help you measure your performance and process better as well as making you sharp in front of the prospective client.

3. Put Your Contacts Database in Motion: Static databases cause sales prospects to rot on the vine. Put your contact management system in motion. Unfortunately, most lead management software does not have an automated mechanism to constantly optimize and suggest the next best lead. So, you may have to do a little work here. Segment and build a call list based on last contact--daily. Do not randomly meander through your address book--that is another sale miracle strategy.

4. Don't Think, Call: I'll make this real simple. Dial--Hang-Up--Dial. Repeat until exhausted. This is the MOST IMPORTANT SALES TIP you will ever get!

5. Let Email Help You: Email is a great tool to remove barriers and anxieties between you and a new prospect. Make it work for you. Automate email campaigns based on various statuses within your sales process. The primary objective it to create response while you are calling--increasing your overall sales velocity.

6. Schedule a Time, Even If They Don't Answer: People are busy and increasingly hate to be interrupted--especially by sales calls. Prevent this initial objection by always scheduling a time. This works for an initial conversation, follow-up to the current call, or even a voicemail. Voicemail appointments is a powerful tactic that is rarely used, and it is a dandy. When you leave a voicemail tell the prospect when to expect your next call. This simple psychological trick sets expectations and reduces the perceived interruption on your call back. You will be amazed by the contact rate lift.

7. Try ALL Contact Information: I can't tell you the times I have seen smart sales people kill sales leads over one bad phone number or incorrect email. Try all of the contact information available data errors and contact information migration is rampant. There is also a wide range of personal contact preferences too. Do loss a sale because of laziness.

8. Never Kill a Lead--Nurture It: Leads should never be killed in your contact management software. People don't say no because they don't buy things--they are simply waiting for the right time and value. Treat them as such. Place withdrawn or less promising leads into a lead nurturing campaign that keeps you in a light touch and education mode.

9. Work in 30 Minute Bursts: Calling and sales is an intense emotional business. Like an athlete driven by adrenaline and achievement you need to run your race, recover, and then run again. Approach any sales activities in burst of energy and use recovery periods to tidy up lose ends for the next burst.

10. Set A Daily Contact Goal, Not a Daily Sales Goal: Here is another powerful technique that is often overlooked. Don't base your day on sales quotas. Measure and manage you sales day on activity and contact rates. If you apply the effort and hit your activity rates the sales will come. Continue to tweak and reset your activity goals based on known conversions to consistently hit your monthly quota.
