Homemade Dog Treat Recipes Give You Flexibility

Using homemade dog treat recipes gives you unlimited flexibility in the quality and variety of dog treats that you provide to your dogs. Chicken, beef, lamb and Rice are some of the more popular flavors of commercially prepared dog treats and foods but when you use your own homemade dog treat recipes your flavor combinations are limitless. You can use peanut butter and honey to create sweet treats that do not include meat or you can substitute any meat you choose into your homemade dog treat recipes.

Many traditional homemade dog treat recipes included meats such as chicken, beef and lamb but when you create your own homemade dog treats you have the option of substituting other meats into the recipe as long as the meats are safe for your dog. Homemade dog treats are already usually more cost effective than commercially prepared dog treats but the flexibility of these recipes provides you with additional cost savings. You have the option of shopping for meats that are on sale or that have reduced pRices when you are following a homemade dog treat recipe. You also have the option of reducing or increasing the meat content to suit your dog's tastes and needs.

Another advantage of homemade dog treat recipes is that they can be tailored to suit your dog's nutritional needs. Recipes that call for peanut butter can utilize reduced fat peanut butter if the treats are being prepared for an overweight dog. You can also eliminate any ingredients to which your dog has a known allergy. The flexibility available in homemade dog treat recipes makes it possible to create a treat that is right for every dogs.

How I Managed To Treat Acne the Natural Way

Unbelievable but true! I managed to treat and control my acne successfully. What method did I adopt for acne treating? Be assured it was none of the widely advertised anti acne creams and lotions. All that these creams and lotions do is to suppress the action of acne causing glands temporarily. Clean clear acne free skin is a sign of overall physical health and well being.

To begin with, let us understand what acne is. Acne is a common skin disease which affects different parts of our body like face, neck, chest and back. Acne happens when the sebaceous glands of the skin are infected with oily toxic matter comprising of dead skin, bacteria and excess sebum oil. Normally through the pores of the skin, oil is secreted by sebaceous glands thereby keeping the skin moisturized and lubricated. This also protects the skin from environmental pollution. However if the skin pores are clogged for whatever reason then the toxic waste accumulates and stays in the body itself resulting in acne or pimples.

For acne treating to be successful you need to pay particular attention to

1. Diet and digestion has a lot to do with our general well being and acne in particular. In fact recent research has indicated that acne is related to dyspepsia and constipation. Addressing these should therefore be our first step in acne treating. The surest cure therefore is to improve our diet which must not contain sugar or fat in excess since these tend to create acidity and hence dyspepsia and constipation. If you are in the habit of consuming bread include bread made of wheat from which bran has not. If you prefer Rice in your main course ensure that it is unpolished Rice.

2. Include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet. An adult should ideally consume four to five helpings of fruits and vegetables each day. Seasonal fruits and raw vegetables like tomatoes, cucumber, spinach, carrot, and cabbage should be included in your daily intake. If you follow this dietary regimen for a couple of months your acne will reduce if not disappear.

3 Exercise for at least 4 hours a week. It could be brisk walking or jogging with the intention of making you sweat and reactivate your skin pores to expel the toxins from the body.

4 Steaming the face is also effective in acne treating. Make use of electronic steamer if you have one. Alternatively you can take boiling water in a basin. Hold your face over it in such a manner that the steam comes in contact with your face and opens the pores .Do this for around 15 to 20 minutes.Thereafter wipe the face and wash with cold water. Next take a cotton swab and dip it in juice of lime and rub it gently on your face. Let this juice stay and dry on your face after which it can be washed off again with cold water. This cleansing is very useful in removing dirt which clogs your skin pores. Additionally it will give a fresh glow to your face too.

That is not all. There are a number of remedies now available which you can use to get rid of acne from the comfort and security of your home. For more information on one such remedy which I have found to be successful in getting rid of my acne in a matter of just three days visit http://www.know-to.com/acne/acne.html.

Irresistibly Cute Ideas For Baby Shower Decorations and Favors

Want to plan a cute and memorable shower for a mother-to-be? These ideas for fun baby shower decorations and favors will help you get started. Decorating doesn't have to be expensive or exhausting to be cute and effective. Most of the items required for a successful shower are affordable and easy to find and can end up being useful gifts for the mother-to-be that that will come in handy after the birth of her child.

Coming Up with a Shower Decorating Theme

The first step you must take to create cute, unique items and favors is to come up with a theme for your party. This is usually the most difficult step in planning a shower but having a theme is essential if you want the whole party to look elegant and not like it was thrown together at the last minute.

The easiest way to decide on a party theme is to find out what theme the mother is planning to use to decorate the nursery and go with that. For example, if a mom-to-be is decorating the nursery with an angel theme, you can give small angel dolls as favors for the guests and decorate the walls with paper cut-outs of angels.

Ideas for Baby Shower Decorations

While it's best to stick with your central theme, there are some DIY decorating ideas out there that are universal and can be used no matter what theme you decide to go with. Items that can serve both as decorations and gifts for the mother-to-be include baby bath tubs, diapers, bottles, booties, baby clothes, pacifiers, and baby bottles.

If you want to make use of a baby bath tub at your shower, fill it with punch and let a little rubber ducky float on top or fill it with useful gift items like baby shampoo, soap, and lotion. To decorate the ceiling or walls, hang baby clothes and booties on a clothesline. Diaper cakes work great as a decorative centerpiece and gift. Baby bottles with nipples cut at the tips and straws poked through can be used to serve drinks while pacifiers can be used as napkin holders.

Food and Favors for Your Shower

When exploring food ideas for your shower, consider going along with your central theme. For example, if you are using a ladybug theme, make ladybug cookies or a ladybug cake to go along with the decorations. If pacifiers are a part of your decorative theme, make small pacifiers out of two wintergreen lifesavers and a jellybean. Stick the candy together with vanilla frosting and you will have little candy pacifiers that can be used both as decorations and snacks.

If you are decorating your shower with pastel-colored decorations, use food coloring to make pastel green, blue, yellow, or pink Rice crispy treat as color-coordinated snacks. Use cookie cutters in the shapes of pacifiers, buggies, and rattles to make cute cookies as snacks to serve at your shower. These cookies can also be placed in colorful cellophane bags and used as favors for baby shower guests. Some other ideas for baby shower favors include bath bombs, flowers, candles, small potted plants, and baby booties filled with candy and tied with ribbons. Use tissue paper, cellophane, small boxes, and sachets to package favors elegantly.

Now that you are armed with these ideas for your shower, start brainstorming themes, decorations, food, and favors so you can plan a special, personalized event for yourself or a loved one. Planning a shower can be a very fun experience and your imagination is your only limit for coming up with new and interesting ideas. Use these baby shower decorating and favor ideas to help you get started. With the right amount of preparation, creativity, and planning, you are bound to have a shower that is fun, elegant, and memorable for the mom-to-be and guests.

Brown Rice Syrup - A Good Substitute For Refined Sugar

Brown Rice syrup (BRS) is a wonderful substitute for plain old refined sugar. Like its name implies, it is made from brown Rice; therefore, it is considered a complex carbohydrate and generally accepted as a better sweetener than refined sugar which is a simple sugar. It also has a lower glycemic index than regular sugar, making it ideal for diabetics or anyone looking for a healthier alternative to refined sugar.

Brown Rice syrup is similar in appearance, texture, and flavor to honey. It even smells a little like honey. Some say BRS has a buttery, caramel-like flavor, but don't think you're going to be eating anything that tastes like caramel candies! Even though it has a similar flavor to honey, I found that it did not alter the taste of my recipes. Feel free to use it in your recipes wherever you would use regular sugar.

Substituting brown rice syrup for sugar can be a challenge since one is granulated and the other is a liquid, and BRS is only half as sweet as refined sugar, but it can be done successfully. Just remember a few important tips when using BRS in place of regular sugar.

BRS is not as sweet as sugar, so you will need to use approximately 1 and 1/3 Cup of BRS to 1 Cup of sugar.

BRS is a liquid, so you will need to reduce the other liquids in your recipe. Reduce other liquids by about 1/4 Cup for every 1Cup of BRS.

For reasons beyond my scientific knowledge, it's a good idea to include 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda per 1 Cup of brown rice syrup.

I made a chocolate mousse using brown rice syrup, and the texture was heavenly. I believe refined sugar would have made the mousse gritty, but the BRS gave the mousse a smooth, rich texture.  In some instances, a liquid form of sugar is actually preferred and BRS is the perfect solution.

As you can see, it does take some planning and tweaking to use brown rice syrup in your current recipes, but its health benefits are truly worth the effort.

Refined sugar is terrible for your body, so why don't you try this wonderful alternative.

Great Snack Ideas For the Classroom

Pre-schoolers and elementary students alike need a little pick-me-up now and then. Whether you need to send in treats on a regular schedule, or you have volunteered to help out with a special event, a special snack from this list is sure to please. Depending on how festive you want the occasion to be, you can package snacks in plain zip top bags, decorate your own bags, or purchase special treat bags that are designed to suit the occasion and then tie them up with pieces of ribbon when you have them filled.

Make sure you check with your school or teacher to see if there are any foods they don't allow at snack time. There are many restrictions in schools that don't allow you to serve certain types of foods to children, which can make it difficult to plan for snacks that are fun for kids. Many schools don't allow you to serve any peanuts or peanut butter due to allergy severity, and you may not have the option of giving kids foods that contain added sugar. If you are restricted to those foods that are deemed "safe and healthy", then you will need to add even more imagination to the presentation of the food to make it appealing to small children.

Great snack ideas:

Rice Krispie Treats are a favorite of children and adults alike. If you want to give them something besides the typical Rice Krispie square, mix up a big batch of the treats and add colored Krispies or food coloring. You do not need to be restricted to Rice cereal-try a variety of different cereals for a different look, or go whole grain for a healthy, energy packed choice. Use cookie cutters in fun shapes or for the holiday to cut out the treats and you can add a popsicle stick to make eating them easier and neater!

Popcorn balls are a favorite treat, especially in the fall. Try mixing in a few M&M's and putting the ball on a stick. You can find many recipes online for caramel, cinnamon, and other flavored popcorn balls to give kids something a little less traditional. Popcorn may not be suitable for kids under the age of five, so be sure to check with your child's teacher if needed.

Veggies with Dip is a great snack for kids. One of the things that increases children's taste for vegetables is ranch dressing. If you can afford to get them the individual dipping cups with the dressing then have the carrot and celery sticks, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. already prepared, then it's just a matter of having the veggies divided and ready to eat. If this takes too much out of your budget, then get some little paper cups or holiday treat holders that won't easily spill and spoon out from the jar.

Fruit and Yogurt is another great snack time combo. Cut the fruit into small pieces for dipping, and serve with vanilla yogurt "dip. Home made trail mix is another great idea. You can easily make it in bulk, use the ingredients you want, and then package it in a variety of fun containers. This is a treat that is healthy, delicious, and approved by most schools! Ingredients can include any dry, bite sized morsels, like cereals, raisins, crackers, or seeds. Adding a small amount of a "fun" item like M&Ms can make your snack mix more appealing-just watch out for poachers!

You can also mix up a batch of "Chex" party mix. The recipe should be right on the box of cereal and is usually made in bulk. Kids will love helping to make their own snack right in the classroom and all you need are fun containers to scoop it into!

Whatever you choose as a snack for the classroom, keep in mind that packaging is a big part of the fun. Look for inexpensive and creative ways to serve great classroom snacks!

Save Time with No-Bake Cookies

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Whether you don't want to heat up the kitchen or the demands of getting the kids out the door are upon you, it's nice to have a few no-bake cookie recipes on hand. We thought we would share some of our favorites with you.

Cranberry Coconut Bars

This first recipe, Cranberry Coconut Bars, is more of a big kid cookie-it has too much fruit and too many nuts in it to suit most youngsters. But it so scrumptious and easy, we had to include it. If you are making a lunch for a spouse or a teenager, we think this will be a hit. Of course, it doesn't have to go in a lunch pail.

This is a microwave cookie that can be mixed right in the baking pan. How's that for convenience?

If you are not fond of dried cranberries, consider substituting dates, raisins, or chopped apricot pieces in this recipe.

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 cup quick rolled oats

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1/2 cup dried cranberries

1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut

1/2 cup walnut pieces

Directions

1. Place butter in an 8-inch square, microwave-safe baking dish. Microwave until the butter is melted.

2. Stir in the brown sugar until dissolved. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. Press the mixture firmly into the dish.

3. Microwave for three to five minutes or until lightly browned. If your microwave does not have a rotating carousel, rotate the dish twice during cooking.

4. Let the cookies cool and then cut them into bars with a sharp knife. Wrap them individually to pack in a lunch.

This recipe will make sixteen 2 x 2-inch squares.

This next recipe makes a great kid cookie. It's almost confection-like but is so packed with energy and hearty oats that you won't mind giving your youngster a few. This cookie is best with a tall glass of milk.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Drops

This is a range-top cookie. Because it is a no-baker and so full of energy, it makes a great camping cookie.

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup butter

1/3 cocoa

2 1/2 cup quick oats

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

Directions

1. Combine sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a boil. Cook for two more minutes stirring constantly and then remove the pan from the heat.

2. Stir in the peanut butter and vanilla, then the oats.

3. Let cool for several minutes and then drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let the cookies cool completely before removing them from the waxed paper.

More No-Bakers

When thinking of no-bake cookies, don't forget the perennial favorites, Rice Krispie Treats and Frosted Graham Crackers. We're assuming everyone has the recipe for Rice Krispie Treats. Consider adding chocolate chips, dried fruit pieces, or cinnamon candies for a little pizzazz.

To make Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats, melt 2/3 cup chocolate chips (for a recipe calling for six cups of cereal) with the marshmallows and butter. This is a real favorite-our kids like these more than regular Rice Krispie Treats and they are no more difficult to make.

For Frosted Graham Crackers, simply pick your favorite frosting and sandwich that between two graham cracker squares. Pick a frosting with a powdered-sugar base that will set up firm and won't be messy.

Add Alaskan Spot Shrimp to Your Favorite Recipes For a Tasty and Nutritious Treat

When it comes to seafood, Alaska's reputation of providing some of the freshest, purest varieties worldwide is well-deserved. Alaska's commercial seafood harvest of savory, wild-caught fish supplies global markets with abundant stocks of healthy salmon, pollock, cod, halibut, and shrimp, to name just a few. This article will give you some ideas on how to get started incorporating delicious Alaskan spot shrimp into several of your favorite meals. Alaskan spot shrimp are caught riding along in rapid currents by masterful fisherman using specially designed pots. Their remarkably sweet flavor and firm texture perfectly complement a variety of recipes.

Indulge your taste buds by adding shrimp to a mouth-watering fettuccini alfredo. To make the sauce, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat while blending in 2 cups of whipping cream. Then, without letting it boil, add in 1 cup of grated parmesean cheese and stir until the sauce thickens. You can add more cheese or cream as needed to get the consistency you want.

Get your favorite Chinese flavors without all the MSG by making your own garlic shrimp. All you need is 1/3 cup of butter, 2 pounds of peeled and deveined shrimp, about 5 medium-sized garlic cloves, crushed and minced, 1/3 cup of chopped parsley, 2 ½ tablespoons of lemon juice, and salt and soy sauce to taste. Sauté everything in a large skillet over medium heat and serve over white Rice.

The commercial seafood harvest of wild fish betters farm-raised versions on multiple levels. Wild-caught fish is known to be richer than farmed fish in vitamins and minerals, as well as free of many of the contaminants that farmed fish contain. Thanks to the wild-caught commercial seafood harvest tradition in Alaska, you can enjoy fresh, nutritious Alaskan spot shrimp with just about anything. Go ethnic by adding shrimp to an Indian or Thai shrimp curry dish. Or spice up some Cajun jambalaya. Serve shrimp toasts as hors d'oeurves at your next party. Alaskan spot shrimp also taste great paired with asparagus and rolled in sushi. If you're trying to eat light, add some cold shrimp to a mixed salad of fresh greens for extra flavor. The possibilities are endless.

How to Make Bibimpap (Korean Mixed Rice)

This has to be one of Korea's most eaten dishes, simply because it is easy to make and you can put in whatever you want into this dish. This dish originated from the olden Korean days when people didn't have as much to eat. Since they only had bits and pieces of dishes and side dishes, they simply mixed everything together so that everyone could taste a little bit of everything. And thus the origin of Bibimbap. However, in this dish we are going to use the ingredients that are most widely used. Here is how to make this old yet delicious dish.

The ingredients that we are going to use are: white Rice, bulgogi, carrots, cucumbers, spinach, soybean sprouts, an egg, Korean chili paste, and sesame seeds.

This dish is incredibly easy to make. First off, make the Rice as instructed on the bag. While the rice is being cooked, we can prep all the other ingredients.

For carrots and cucumbers, you can either julienne them or take a slicer and just slice them with that.

As for your spinach and soybean sprouts, boil them in water with a little salt so that your spinach wilts and your soybean sprouts cook. Once you think they're done, just take them out and you can either let them sit or dunk them in ice water.

For bulgogi, you can check my other article to learn how to make that. It's not that hard to make, and it's incredibly delicious.

Once the rice has been cooked, simply take a large portion of rice into a large bowl, take some of every ingredient and put it into the bowl as well. Then take a spoonful of Korean chili and add that to the mixture and mix well so that everything is evenly covered and spread out. Then take a frying pan, cook your egg sunny side up and lay it on top of the bibimbap while sprinkling on some sesame seeds.

Now you are done making bibimbap and can enjoy this delicious dish with whoever is around you because I can assure there's going to be more than enough for everyone.

4. Color your own eggs by making your own egg dye. Try beet juice, kool aid and anything that has color.

5. Make Easter egg holders, cut empty paper towel tubes about 2 inches each and wrap in colorful paper. You can also put stickers on them or draw on them. You can then sit your eggs on them.

6. Cut out construction paper egg shapes and write a Bible verse on each one about what Easter is really about.

7. Make small Easter baskets and deliver to nursing homes to those residents that never get visitors and to your elderly neighbors.

8. Read the Easter story in the Bible and some Easter books.

9. Have an Easter egg hunt and invite children of the community.

10. Decorate an outside tree with plastic Easter eggs.Just take a plastic egg apart and put ribbon inside and close the egg on the ribbon and tie to the tree. This is very colorful.

Common Types of Cookies

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Everyone loves home-baked cookies. Nothing is more welcoming than the smell of freshly baked cookies or the sight of them cooling on the counter. It's my favorite kind of aromatherapy.

Cookies have a long history, dating back to 7th Century Persia. By the 1800s, cookie recipes began appearing in cookbooks as 'small cakes.' In fact, the term 'cookie' comes from the Dutch word koekje or koekie which means little cake.

Recipes for cookies in a variety of styles and flavors increased in the early 1900s and continues today. Cookies are the most common treat baked in home kitchens and it's estimated that more than half of all home baked cookies are chocolate chip.

But there are a lot more kinds of cookies out there waiting to be baked. Most cookbooks classify them by how they are formed into the following categories or types of cookies:

Bar Cookies, Squares, or Pan Cookies
The quickest and easiest type of cookie to make. Batter or dough is pressed or spread into a pan and cut into bite-size pieces after baking. Brownies are the classic example of a batter-type bar cookie but they come in a variety of styles and flavors.

Drop Cookies
By far the most common type of homemade cookie created by dropping or pushing cookie dough from a teaspoon or tablespoon onto a prepared cookie sheet. Just mix, drop, bake, and enjoy -- definitely an easy cookie type. Popular examples of drop cookies include oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, and chocolate chip.

No Bake Cookies
Another easy cookie, no bakes don't require an oven. They are a great way to introduce kids to the fun of cookie making. Some of my favorite no bake cookie recipes include Rice krispie bars, coconut date balls, rum balls, and peanut butter bars.

Ice Box or Refrigerator Cookies
Originally referred to as "ice box cookies," made from stiff dough that is refrigerated and usually formed into a cylinder before slicing and baking. Contemporary cookbooks may categorize refrigerator cookies as sliced or slice and bake cookies. You can keep a log of cookie dough in the refrigerator or freezer then slice, bake, and enjoy a warm, fresh from the oven, homemade cookie whenever a cookie craving strikes.

Shaped Cookies
These cookies are shaped by hand or with molds or extruded from a cookie press or pastry bag. Shortbread is a classic example of a hand shaped cookie. There are also lots of popular holiday "spritz" cookies that require a special cookie press.

Whichever type of cookie you choose to make, friends and family are sure to applaud your efforts.

Making a Michigan-Themed Gift Basket Sparkle

Named after the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan, the state is situated within the Midwest region of the United States, offering cool and refreshing access to four of the five Great Lakes. Water is an important aspect when it comes to the state of Michigan, which presents its fair share of natural resources to explore. In the United States, Michigan also possesses the longest freshwater shoreline in the country. When it comes to gift baskets that display the beauty and appeal of the region, the color blue is a highly embraced visual choice.

As you explore the ins and outs of Michigan, you might have come across the excitement of the largest city in the state - Detroit. It is here where you will encounter the "Motor City," a major automobile industrial land with a host of car-related attractions in the area, including a museum and casino. Gift baskets capitalizing off of the car theme may include car wash accessories; racing car memorabilia; emergency roadside supplies; as well as arrangements showcasing road trip edibles.

A wealth of surrounding industries, products, and services also calls Michigan cities their home base. For example, Michigan is home to the Kellogg Headquarters, where a larger-than-life Tony the Tiger statue greets visitors in Battle Creek. Post Cereals also sets up shop in the state. Cereal-related gift baskets could be the latest craze for consumers of all ages, especially children. An entire basket theme could center on the Kellogg's Rice Krispie treats that have gained international acclaim.

A Computer World gift basket could take off from the information technology presence of Google in Michigan to the computer software supplied by Compuware and IBM. Media storage, duplication accessories, keyboard cleaner, dust remover, monitor screen wipes, decorative computer paper, and a mousepad are just some of the gift basket items to consider.

Throughout Michigan, baseball is not the favorite pastime here, but rather the art of hunting. The sport also acts as a major contributor to the economy of the state. Michigan actually holds the highest number of licensed hunters (totaling over 1 million) than any other state in the U.S. Close to one million hunters flock to fields to take advantage of the white-tailed deer season. The activity is so prominent that some rural district schools actually hold holiday time for the opening of rifle season.

Another intriguing aspect of Michigan includes the fact that there are more than 130 lighthouses situated throughout the state. This is more than any other location in the U.S. The first lighthouses made an appearance in Michigan between 1818 and 1822, with the purpose of providing light to safely guide passenger ships home. A nautical-themed gift basket with lighthouse trinkets may find a place in both the local and tourist Michigan market.

Pain Relief Strategies For Tendonitis

Tendonitis is an irritation of a tendon, which is a thick cord like structure that links bone to muscle. Tendonitis is an injury that occurs as a result of overuse, and is usually caused by recurrent, minor impact on the affected area, or sometimes from an unexpected, more serious injury.

Once an individual is determined to have tendonitis, they begin to explore which paths to take for swifter healing. The most important goal in tendonitis treatment and healing is to relieve pain and to reduce swelling.

Below are multiple strategies for tendonitis treatment and prevention:

These strategies are suggested byhealth professionalsand physical therapists alike. Physical therapy can prove to be very valuable, especiallya programthat stretches and strengthens the muscles and tendons. This conditioning is necessary, as it can restore the tendon's capacity to function properly, advance healing, and reduce future injury.

Physical therapists and body work specialistsinclude range-of-motion routines, splinting, and in some cases, braces designed to support and safeguard the affected area. Body work specialists and physical therapists may also advise individuals about ergonomics, and incorrect posture at work, or inadequate stretching before working out. Most all health and body work professionals believe that in order to aid recovery you should carry out the following:

1. Rest and Protection

Tendonitis treatment methods must begin by staying away from altogether the irritating motions and movement that caused the injury. This could mean taking a break from a favorite recreation for a period of time. Taking a break is an absolutely necessary step in order for the inflamed tendon to heal. Most people find this either impossible or inconvenient, especially if the injury is work related (professional athletes, gardeners, carpenters, etc) but tendonitis will not fully heal without this basic step. Often a splint or brace will be prescribed to help guard the area, which can act as important armor against re-injury.

2. Make use of An Ice Pack

Icing the area of inflammation is an important aspect of tendonitis treatment. The ice contains the inflammation and decreases swelling. Once inflammation and swelling have diminished, the tendon is able to return to its ordinary state and perform its normal functioning.

3. Take Anti-Inflammatory Medications

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) are common over the counter (OTC) medications such as Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, Motrin, Celebrex, and to name a few. Tendonitis can benefit from these medications because they reduce pain and swelling. There are also anti-inflammatory cremes one can put directly on the affected area. Bear in mind that it is always smartto first discuss with a health professional any medications you decide to take.

4. Cortisone Injections

Often when the symptoms of tendonitis are persistent, an injection of cortisone may be considered. Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication that is injected directly to the site of swelling. Sometimes this is a more drastic alternative for situations that are not improved with relaxation, safeguarding, or applying. It is important to be informed that not all types of tendonitis can be treated with cortisone injections. For example, Achilles tendonitis is very rarely injected with cortisone because of worries about probable rupture of the tendon.

5. Strengthening strategies and physical therapy

Applicable strengthening approaches can help you avoid tendonitis by teaching you to use your muscles in a safe, more productive manner. Physical therapists and massage therapists have certain exercises that teachpeople ways to move their prone areas that won't cause inflammation. Exercises should not begin until the person has recovered enough for the swelling to be gone. A person who exercises prematurely will injure themselves further.

6. Take Breaks

Substitute repetitive jobs with an intermission or a change in activity to reduce stress on the tendons. Any one activity that is continual for hours at a time should be interrupted with a break. Persons with exercise-related tendonitis should alter workouts to relieve any constant stress and motion of the same kind of exercise activity.

7. Safeguard the Tendon

Some people who have persistent tendonitis will find comfort by protecting the affected area when undertaking certain activities. For example, a wrist splint can be worn while house painting or gardening, alleviating the repetitive strain on the tendon. Custom designed removable braces may be suggested, as well as an ace bandage or wrap.

8. R.I.C.E (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)

Another helpful means of action is the commonly known acronym used to decrease inflammation: Rice, which stands for rest, ice, compression, and elevation. The special combination of this strategy, if implemented immediately, can be very effective in decreasing swelling andthus treating tendonitis.

Usually, the abovementioned treatments are sufficient tendonitis interventions for many to completely handle their symptoms. In very few cases, sometimes surgery is suggested, but only when there is no response tomultiple treatment strategies, and the individual believes it to be the only option. However, surgery has its draw-backs, including scar tissue, more inflammation, pain, and the distinct possibility that the surgery will fail and potentially make your condition worse. Be certain to have a thoughtful consultation with a health professional you trust, before deciding if surgery is agood choice for you. Know the many risks, and do research, etc., to help youmake an informed decision about your body and your health.
