puppy basin cake_0001.wmv

A video of my daughter's birthday cake being put together: Like the Snoopy for last year's cake, the puppy was sculpted out of rice krispies treats by hand. The dog dish, however. was made using a bowl as a mould. White chocolate covers the rice krispies bowl, and a blend of milk and dark chocolate was used to cover the puppy. (Regretfully, I had technical difficulties with my camera and could not photograph the chocolate coating of the puppy.) The cake and frosting are Betty Crocker products. Multigrain Cheerios were poured into the bowl before putting in the puppy. Note: The inspiration for the puppy was my younger daughter's Webkinz black Lab Sparky, and is made from one batch of rice krispies treats. The bowl is made from three batches of rice krispies treats, and consequently, is quite heavy. The super moist Betty Crocker cake could not handle this weight, so that is why I decided to support it with an inverted cake pan instead. Note on the music: The track is a portion of a piece called Isla Del Sol by a very talented artist named Guido Luciani. This is one of nine tracks of a cd called "Azucar the Magic of Spanish Guitar". I bought it on a whim at the gift shop check out of our local zoo. I absolutely love this collection of music and would highly recommend it to anyone that likes Spanish style music.
